Rapid identification of bacteria using a multiplex polymerase chain reaction system for acute abdominal infections

چکیده

Purpose Acute abdominal infections can be fatal if the causative organism (s) are misidentified. The spread of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria has become a serious problem worldwide, making antibiotic selection extremely difficult. Using quantitative metagenomic analysis, we evaluated commercial multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) system (FilmArray™, bioMérieux, Marcy-l’Étoile, France) for rapid identification bacteria. Methods cases 10 patients with acute were enrolled in this retrospective study. There six perforated peritonitis and four intraabdominal abscess. Fluid collected from surgical examined. Results All specimens tested positive microorganisms culture, involved two or more microorganisms. PCR system, nine ten found to involve at least one microorganism. One specimen was not included panel. Nineteen 21 (90.5%) isolated by culture detected system. Microorganisms very small numbers reads (19 reads) detectable. Conclusion This showed high detection rate ascites abscesses. may suitable as an affordable these cases.

Genus Brachyspira,as Gram negative anaerobic bacteria, colonize in dogs intestine. The aim of the current study was to determine the prevalence of Brachyspira spp. for the first time in Iran and rapid identification of Brachyspira spp. in dogs by a new designment of a species-specific primer set for B. canis. One hundred fifty-one fecal samples were obtained ...

Identification of Dermatophytes Using Multiplex Polymerase Chain Reaction

BACKGROUND Multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) allows more than two target DNA molecules to be amplified with more than two primers. This method is also useful for detecting various other organisms simultaneously within a single test tube, and the scope of its use has been expanding widely in the field of clinical microbiology in recent years. OBJECTIVE To assess the value of multiplex ...

Development of a Multiplex Polymerase Chain Reaction for Differential Diagnosis of Canary Pox Virus

Background and Aims: A multiplex transcription-polymerase chain reaction (m-PCR) was developed for direct detection and discrimination between canarypox virus (CPV) and other avian poxvirus (APV). Materials and Methods: Three compatible primer sets were designed for m-PCR amplification of different loci fpv126, fpv140, and fpv167 located at highly conserved APV genes. Results: Results showed th...
